It has been releasing phytosanitary certification for export consignments and Import releases of plant and plant products during lockdown. “During the lockdown, we have released around 4000 certificates while for import consignments, over 1000 certificates have been released so far,” said an official.

The government also reviewed the status of crop insurance claims and implementation of smart sampling technique for the assessment of crop losses during Rabi season to ensure early release of compensation for farmers.

“We conducted a video conference with all states and Insurance companies to review the payment of claims, status of conduct of crop cutting experiments for Rabi 2019-20 crops, crop loss survey and implementation of Smart Sampling Technique,” the official said.

He said that the centre has asked states to issue passes to representatives of concerned Insurance companies for co-witnessing Crop Cutting Experiments and to relax the norms for conducting field level survey for intimation received for Post-Harvest crop losses due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm.

Apart from that, the government is also coordinating with farmers, aggregators, wholesalers, mandi association for smooth transportation of commodities and ensure smooth supply chain.
