Karnataka offers help to set up Taiwanese industrial township in Tumakuru

BENGALURU: A high level Taiwanese delegation on Tuesday requested Karnataka to allow them to set up a Taiwanese township in the State.

A delegation led by Executive Director of Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) Jashon Hsu met deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan and urged him to allow them to set up a Taiwanese township near Tumakuru on the lines of Japanese township there.

A Japanese Township is coming up near Vasanatha Narasapura industrial area in Tumakuru, which is an hour’s drive from Bengaluru.

Ashwath Narayan assured them that he would soon speak to Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar and see to it that the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) develops the project.

The deputy chief minister also said that the government was keen to sanction the land and facilitate other infrastructure requirements to ensure Taiwan makes huge investments in Karnataka. He responded positively to a proposal from the Taiwanese delegation to help them start an industrial cluster for manufacturing LED bulbs, smartphones and other consumer goods. “We have adequate skill power and a strong suplly chain. The government will provide all help for investments in the State,” Ashwath Narayan said.

The Deputy CM asked the Taiwanese delegation to set up Taiwan Economic & Cultural Centre in Bengaluru. The delegation responded positively and assured to set up TECC here. Additional Chief Secretary (IT) EV Ramana Reddy, TECC delegates Chin-Tsan Wang, Phil Chang and Ellie Chiang were present during the meeting.
